Join us July 20th, 2012 from 7:00–10:00pm for the opening reception of Synchrodogs.Synchrodogs are Tania Shcheglova and Roman Noven, two photographers and lovers from the Ukraine. As a couple they sandwich the camera lens, shooting analog photos of their bodies immersed in the raw materials of the Ukrainian countryside or synthetic by-products of the very same culture. Their work is more than a reflection of their environment, it is their perceived environment. Their photographic style is the most economical way to crystalize and replicate the dark, fantastical tableaus they build up out of at-hand cultural artifacts. Limbs skew at strange angles, legs fold defensively. Fur is faux, tattoos are temporary, bodies are exposed. Within their mode of unfiltered self-presentation, Synchrodogs define an Eastern European aesthetic that’s visceral, bizarre, and finding its shape within the realm of fashion photography.
Synchrodogs’ work includes commissioned shoots for Harper’s Bazaar Ukraine, Urban Outfitters and Hello Glasses, and editorial features in Dazed DIGITAL, VICE USA, Disturber Magazine, Neon Magazine and Autre. Synchrodogs have exhibited work in LA (USA), Copenhagen (Denmark), Melbourne (Australia) and London (UK).
