I have to admit that until I saw Jerry Smith’s work, I hadn’t thought of wood turning as an art form. Or thought about it much at all, really. So, I was just stunned by the beauty of what he ‘turns out’. (Get it?) The wood all comes from his property in West Virginia, and he seems to know every fallen tree there.
“This goblet was turned from a black walnut tree that grew in the shade of other large trees and never had the chance to grow to its full potential.”
I like his work…
