I prefer art that is relatively simple and not ‘overworked’. These are illustrations that Sean is doing for a friend’s long biblical poem. One of his typical descriptions is at the bottom on this post. Sean does many other beautiful paintings and drawings, which can be seen on his website.

OK, so, numbers 92~100 of 240 today… continuing on with the illustrations for my friend’s long-poem based on the Gospel narrative.
Instead of illustrating the text directly for the first three, I chose to do landscapes, which I feel sort of follow along the very ‘earth’ nature of Christ’s parables…
After that, there are a number of town scenes, which more illustrate the here-and-there, to-and-fro nature of this part of the narrative. This ends with Herod (the political son of a butcher) wondering who the heck this Jesus fellow really is…
I used a number of round brushes as well as my Japanese brush and trusty fan brush for the watercolors, and my nib pen and ink for the line work.
