“Howdy Mike well I have got some photos for you. This last week I had to abandon the art cave most of the time it is a section of my basement and has not heat. It was just to cold so I worked a little out of my dining room/office that was a special time for all moving paint brushes to have dinner.

So you mentioned you would like to know why we feel inspired to create. Me I dream almost constantly at night and find the best way to get rid of the bad ones and to enjoy the good ones is to create them. The other big reason for me is I love to make people laugh or smile and for me most of my creations that are not from dreams are meant to bring laughter or make someone reflect on warm memories. My dream would be able to make such a living at it that I did not have to worry about bills and such. Rich is great but I would be happy to just have a little nest and a little egg and maybe some new supplies everyonce in a while.
My artcave in maybe my favorite room in the world. It is messy and dirty but I love it. The photos are of the different areas in my cave. I have it in little work stations. The one with all the hanging stuff is where I keep stock of jewelry. The one with the gold head is my spot that I make the jewelry and little assemblages. I put some of what I consider treasures there. The gold head is one of the few things I ever won and I love it. The penis rug underneath a friend made for me. The pets are my kids. The Scrap book in the back is all filled with stuff from my Regretsy friends.

The giant table with the white cling stuff is called the deer stand. It was a huge drafting table my sister got and was to short for. My father wanted to make a deer stand out of it but never did so at some point it came to live here. That is about all I can think of to share. Use whateever you like out of my photos or comments if you chose to feature my space. Oh the kitties are a work in progress from this week.”

About destructivetesting

I'm a self-taught artist who prefers to use found objects in ways that were never intended. I'm not interested in making 10 or 100 of the same object. This, of course, takes more time to make each piece. I also prefer a more minimalist look, where each part of a piece can be appreciated. I consider my clocks to be small sculptures with moving parts. And, my lamps to be small sculptures with light. My mirrors are reflective sculptures. DESTRUCTIVE TESTING means to push something to it's limits to understand it's structural performance or material behavior under different stresses. I interpret this in my artwork as using materials in different ways or combinations than they were designed to be used. I also just like the slightly ominous sound of the term...
